The PRN Speech Language Pathologist provides evaluation and treatment for clients with language expression, speech production, pragmatics, and comprehension difficulties, as well as cognitive changes and swallowing disorders as a result of the neurological disorder or brain injury.
Specific areas of treatment may include, but are not limited to:
- Speech/language, communication, and cognitive needs
- Swallowing disorders
- Alternative communication methods for clients with little or no speech capability.
- Client and family education and coping with neurological disorders.
- Adaptive equipment and/or compensatory strategies based on the treatment and discharge plans.
- Teaching team members strategies needed to support the client’s treatment plan.
- Discharge planning services including modifying strategies for discharge setting, and educating caregivers.
- Educational and experiential learning to address assertiveness, self-awareness, interpersonal and social skills, stress management, and communication skills through groups.
