We provide treatment for post-concussion syndrome, stroke, memory loss, neurobehavioral issues and accident or sports-related head injuries.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for planning and preparing client meals, as well as overseeing all food service related operations within the program.  This role ensures that adequate food products and supplies are available on site at all times, advocates for the nutritional needs and dietary preferences of clients, and ensures that all sanitary and safety precautions are followed in the preparation and maintenance of the kitchen and food storage/preparation areas of the facility.  

 

Essential Duties & Functions

  • Ensure that an adequate inventory of food, beverage and related supplies are maintained for the program (must have a 3-day supply of food and water at all times).
  • Monitor, order and purchase food supplies as needed for program on weekly basis.
  • Develop and maintain menus in accordance with dietary needs of clients and established clinical/company standards.
  • Ensure cleanliness of kitchen and all food storage/preparation areas in accordance with company standards.
  • Ensure proper sanitation and storage procedures are followed by all staff in the storage and preparation of all foods.
  • Train new staff, as needed, in proper food service/handling methods and in conjunction with the dietary needs of clients.
  • Create and/or recommend new methods and recipes in the creation of client meals.
  • Ensure that meals are prepared and served to clients in an organized and timely manner.
  • Maintain kitchen area with all needed ingredients, cooking equipment and appropriate safeguards to ensure efficient and consistent sanitary meal preparation.
  • Ensure that all food and related items are stored properly to minimize waste and maintain freshness.
  • Maintain inventory recordkeeping and control system to prevent against unnecessary loss or spoilage.
  • Observe and test prepared food items to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling and/or piercing them with appropriate utensils.
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgement, using appropriate kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Season and cook food according to preparation instructions or professional judgement and experience.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify changes in clients’ behavioral, medical, emotional, cognitive, and physical condition and alert applicable team members for appropriate care as needed.
  • Completes all program specific administrative responsibilities as needed (e.g., training, payroll/time reporting, current licensure/certification documentation, etc.).

 

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma and minimum one (1) year of relevant work experience in food service, meal preparation, dietary planning, and nutrition; along with a knowledge of best practices in food safety is required 
  • Effective communication and problem solving skills are also necessary
