Compensation:
This position is part-time and will not exceed 29 hours / week. Based on this the requirements
above we are offering a compensation range of $80-$85 / hour for this position.

 

Benefits:

Responsibilities

About the Position:

The Counselor will provide psychological counseling services to clients, such as focusing on
self-awareness, adjustment to disability, conflict resolution, problem solving, coping skills and
managing suicide protocol.


The ideal candidate is able to counsel individual clients and the people in their lives. This
individual is great at evaluating, developing and implementing strategies and protocols to help
build back our clients’ lives. Ideally, this person is able to balance working with clients and
being part of an incredible team of clinicians and caregivers all while ensuring clear and concise communication with all parties.

 

Essential Duties:
● Use psychological counseling to assist clients in the development of skills and strategies to alleviate distress, resolve crises and adjust to current circumstances   and disability

● Support clients in difficult situations (e.g. refusal of activities, medications and
strategies)
● Work directly with clients and provide assistance and supervision to promote success in achieving treatment goals

● Assess and implement suicide protocol and provide crisis management assistance to clients and programs, as needed
● Educate families, funders, employers, significant others to support treatment and
discharge plans
● Complete therapy evaluations and collaborate with the treatment team to establish initial treatment plans and priority treatment goals
● Develop and implement therapy services that meet client needs, program requirements,
and interrelate with other disciplines that support Learning Services’ philosophy
● Monitor clients’ treatment plans and progress, offering problem solving, conflict
resolution and revision of goals and treatment plan as needed
● Assess, develop, and monitor adaptive equipment and compensatory strategies based on treatment and discharge plans

● Teach strategies to support clients’ treatment plans to other team members
● Assist in the discharge planning process, assessing and securing needed services, modifying strategies for discharge setting and educating caregivers
● Lead appropriate groups addressing various topics such as BI education, self awareness, problem solving, communication and mobility issues
● Facilitate family engagement in the rehabilitation process individually and in a support group setting
● Participate in team meetings providing necessary information and coordinating
rehabilitation goals and treatment to support client’s treatment plan
● Assist team in remaining focused on goals and discharge plans
● Collaborate with the RCM/Clinical Specialist/Director and consulting with physicians and other healthcare providers outside the primary treatment team, as needed
● Write monthly treatment plan reports and document therapy sessions according to guidelines
● Record accurate date and length of each client contact or service in the program files or monthly billing sheet according to program guidelines
● Prioritize tasks to balance direct client treatment, staff communication, program
   responsibilities and written documentation

Qualifications

Requirements:

● Master's degree from an accredited institution in psychology, counseling, social work or
certified rehabilitation counseling, along with a CA license to provide psychological
counseling services is required
● Knowledge of neuropsychology, behavior and cognitive therapy techniques
● Experience working with families and working within a team approach system
● Excellent planning, organizational, writing and time management skills are required
● Ability to communicate with families, professionals and coworkers is a must
